Spencer Lavis – President

Some people simply have it in their blood. Spencer began his construction career at the age of 15, working summers as a labourer in the residential sector. He quickly earned roles of increasing responsibility, eventually becoming a Site Supervisor. In 1990 Spencer moved full time into the Restaurant Development Sector, working with an American firm for four years.

In 1995, Spencer saw an opportunity to increase value for clients by utilizing a combination of technology and exceptional service, and Cambria Design Build was formed. He differentiated himself from his competitors by keeping his clients well informed through leading technology on their projects, delivering quality craftsmanship on time and on budget. As the industry evolved, Cambria continued to grow with their clients – always focusing on the core values of providing exceptional service and fostering successful long term relationships. From humble beginnings as a sole proprietorship, Cambria Design Build has grown to a company of over 50 employees.

Spencer holds an Honours BA in Business and Economics. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, he has never forgotten the key to success of his company, and re-enforces this with the Cambria Design Build’s slogan: “Construction is our business… Exceptional service is what we do… Exceeding your expectations is our goal!”

Rick King – General Manager

Rick brings 30 years of leadership and construction experience to the team. He holds diplomas and certifications in Drafting, Estimating & Contracts Documentation, Construction Organization & Management, Petroleum, and Joint Health & Safety.

His areas of expertise include operational management, complex site management & supervision, and special projects such as petroleum site, multi-storey, and large big box projects. Rick also developed and leads Cambria’s Health and Safety initiative.

One of his key attributes is that Rick isn’t happy until his clients are satisfied. If it is not done right, it is not done!

Colin Graham – Director of Construction

Colin GrahamIn 1978 after searching for a lifelong career that would be satisfying and personally rewarding he decided to follow the path of Construction. He opted to follow the hands on approach of entry level as that was a very natural fit since by then hard work was no stranger to him.

Colin has a strong family history including a Great Grandfather who was the founder and proprietor of a Scottish lumber and sawmill, two Grandfathers who were both Engineers in Scotland and a Father who is a Physician. Combine this rich history with a solid work ethic and you have someone with a keen natural building instinct, attention to detail, and one who cares about the quality of the finished product and satisfied clients.

Building his knowledge and working at his trade Colin spent much of his career self-employed in the building industry until 2001 when the opportunity arose to join Cambria Design Build.

Colin has over 33 years of hands on experience in all facets of construction from the building of it to the business side of it. He continues to believe firmly that the most valuable keys to success are the extremely satisfied and repeat clients created through successful Planning, Communication, Teamwork, Integrity, and Attention to Details. His goal is not setting the standards bar higher than the competition, but BEING the standard that others strive for.

Kim Collard – Chief Financial Officer

Kim CollardKim Collard is a professional designated accountant in good standing since 1988 with the CGA Institute of Ontario. He Graduated from Concordia University, in Montreal, with a Bachelor of Commerce with a joint major in Accounting and Business Administration. He completed a postgraduate diploma in Accountancy at Concordia.

Kim has a broad business experience, working in various industries including over 15 years in construction at a senior financial position. Kim’s expertise lay in making sound business decisions that assist the business in controlling its costs, securing its financial position, and reporting reliable financial information.

Kim succeeds in developing relationships with the Client, with integrity and reliability, to complete the Construction experience in a cooperative and productive fashion. His philosophy of full service to the customer is in alliance with Cambria’s corporate policy.
