I manage the Transportation Studio at NORR Architects & Engineers Limited in Toronto. NORR provides architecture, engineering and project management/consulting services to the Greater Toronto Airports Authority and their tenants.
We’ve worked on numerous tenant improvement programs for HMS Host and SSP America (food & beverage concessionaires) at Pearson International Airport over the last 5 years. These programs included renovations and rebranding of existing restaurants and kiosks, and construction of new facilities. Each of these development projects were executed in active airport terminal buildings and environments with extremely tight deadlines. Cambria has adapted to the strict rules for construction in secure areas of the airport.
Cambria has become familiar with the Pearson International Airport buildings and building systems, the clients, the land lord stakeholders and their expectations. Cambria has also established themselves as reliable and trustworthy, and have developed relationships with GTAA stakeholders which has allowed them to navigate the permitting and construction processes effectively and efficiently. Cambria Design Build put together an excellent design team, including Trend Food Service, VGA Architects, Aegis Engineering, Manuel Jordao Electrical and Straticom Design. The overall project was built under a very demanding timeline that included a serious attention to detail and HACCP requirements, requiring dozens of complex design changes while maintaining the project schedule.
Our experience with Cambria Design Build has been excellent. Their construction knowledge, ability to manage their subcontractor’s relationships and commitment to the project, allowed us to overcome many obstacles during the project, and ultimately deliver the project on time and on budget.

South Simcoe Police Station
The Town of Innisfil has contracted Cambria Design Build as a general contractor for the South Simcoe Police Station renovation and addition.This is a 2.7 million project requiring the total retrofit of an existing 7,000 square foot, one storey building and the addition of a second floor, new entrance and elevator. The project commenced in November, 2009 and projected completion is the end of June 2010. The Project has progressed on time and on budget to date.
As Manager of the project for the Town of Innisfil, working with Cambria and their staff has been a positive experience. The sub trades are well coordinated and managed; issues are identified and resolved quickly and fairly; and there is constant attention to schedule as well as health and safety.
Cambria Design Build is a quality contractor and I would welcome the company bidding on future construction projects for the Town of Innisfil.

On behalf of the South East Toronto Family Health Team, it is with great pleasure we write this letter of recommendation for Cambria Design Build.We first started our relationship with Cambria in February 2011 when they were contracted to build our new multi‐storey medical building in Toronto. Since day one, Cambria has demonstrated a professional approach to our project and has done meticulous work, using sub‐contractors that also have delivered in high quality work. Having regular bi‐weekly meetings with the project team at Cambria was also a key element in keeping us updated about any potential change orders and variations in the timelines – these meetings were great in allowing us to troubleshoot any issues that may have risen.
Even though we had some unanticipated challenges during the construction project, Cambria was able to maintain the efficiency of the development and their attention to the specifics of the construction, as well as proper scheduling of the sub‐contractors, was remarkable. We also appreciated their flexibility and suggestions during the construction process as we continually added changes to the building, starting with the inclusion of tenant space.
On a personal note, the main project team of Matt Twigge, Dominic Salvati and Rick King were great to work with and we would highly recommend Cambria Design Build for any future projects.
